Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino’s uniquely American vision of dance first took form in 1956. The original company consisted of six dynamic and highly individual dancers. What really set them apart was their repertoire of original ballets by Joffrey.
The Joffrey Ballet became the first American company invited to tour the former Soviet Union and the first dance company to perform at the White House. Today the company’s home is Chicago with performances at The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University along with new permanent facilities at 10 E. Randolph Street.
