THE RENOWNED DESIGN EVENT BENEFITS DIFFA/CHICAGO
CHICAGO (August 5, 2004) — The world-class interior design event, ELLE DECOR’s Dining By Design, presented by CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER benefiting DIFFA/Chicago (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) will pull out all the stops Thursday, October 7 – Saturday, October 9, 2004 on the eighth floor of The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. The “Cannes” of tabletop gives designers the opportunity to create lavish and eccentric table settings using floorcoverings, original art, floral arrangements and much more.
The 60 sponsoring participants of ELLE DECOR’s Dining by Design are provided with a 10-by-10 foot space with nearly limitless opportunities in which to demonstrate their creative brilliance. The only requirement is that the table seats 10 guests for dinner and a vessel to chill a bottle of CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER. This year’s sponsors include: Margaret Russell for Elle Decor, Robert Verdi for Champagne Taittinger, The Merchandise Mart and Crate & Barrel. This year’s participants include: Bill Walker for Barley Twist, Branca, GHK/Herman Miller, Hunter Kaiser of GHK for Gunlocke and Momentum/Textus, Chris Liu for Knoll, Steelcase, Baker Furniture, Oscar de la Renta for Century Furniture, Robert Allen/Beacon Hill, Target, Vortex Commercial Flooring and Northwestern Memorial Foundation, among others.

Thursday, October 7: CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER Bubble Blast 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
For $45.00, the public will have an opportunity to attend a sneak preview of the exquisite tables while enjoying CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER and reveling in this unique environment.

Friday, October 8: Public Viewing Open House 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 9: Public Viewing Open House 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
For $10.00, the public is invited to tour the imaginative tabletops designed by some of Chicago’s leading designers.

Saturday, October 9: ELLE DECOR’s Dining by Design Gala 6:30 – 11:00 p.m.
Table sponsorships are available from $2,500 to $10,000.
The evening begins with a CHAMPAGNE TAITTINGER cocktail reception and viewing of the tabletops, followed by a sit down dinner at the beautifully dressed tables, dancing and silent auction – all to cap off the weekend of celebration and charity. The silent auction features an array of items from entire milieus to centerpieces and flatware.

DIFFA
The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) is presently observing its 20th year as one of the largest funders of HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the United States. Since its founding in 1984, DIFFA has mobilized the immense resources of the design communities to provide more than $31 million to hundreds of AIDS organizations nationwide.
Starting with volunteers from fashion, interior design, furnishings and architecture, supporters of DIFFA now come from every field associated with fine design. With 15 chapters nationwide, DIFFA also has been an innovative agent in drawing local and national corporations into the fight against the epidemic, and enjoys tremendous support from the business community.
DIFFA/Chicago chapter distributes funds to Chicago-area AIDS service agencies that assist men, women and children affected by AIDS and HIV-related illnesses. Since 1987, DIFFA/Chicago has awarded Excellence in Care Awards in excess of $2 million. In Chicago, the funding has supported those agencies that demonstrate extraordinary effectiveness in achieving its chosen mission in the HIV/AIDS arena.
