CHICAGO (October 1, 2007) — This holiday season, the seventh annual One of a Kind Show and Sale® Chicago makes it easy to give to a number of worthy causes, including Children’s Memorial Hospital, Y-Me of Illinois, and Marwen. Numerous local charities will benefit from the largest fine art and fine craft exhibition and sale in the city, taking place at The Merchandise Mart, December 6-9, 2007. With more than 400 carefully selected juried artists and artisans from across North America, consumers are sure to find something for everyone on their list and will be making a charitable contribution just by attending the Show.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6: Benefiting Children’s Memorial Hospital Foundation
On the opening day of the show, all ticket sale proceeds will be donated to Children’s Memorial Hospital. In addition, a number of participating artists in the One of a Kind Show and Sale will be donating a portion of their sales as well. Founded in 1987, the Children's Memorial Foundation is a charitable tax-exempt organization, through which all gifts benefit Children's Memorial Hospital. The Foundation's staff of fundraising professionals works with more than 25 affiliated organizations and an active team of volunteers to cultivate and secure contributions that advance the mission of the hospital. New this year, attendees will have the opportunity to shop the show earlier than ever – with doors opening at 12 p.m. on Thursday. Guests will find the best selection of unique gifts and enjoy drinks and entertainment from 12-9 p.m.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7 : Benefiting Y-ME Illinois
On Friday, a portion of the ticket sales, as well as a special silent auction, will benefit Y-ME Illinois. All items included in the auction will be donated by One of A Kind artists and 100% of the proceeds go to Y-ME Illinois which provides information and support to those touched by breast cancer, their families, healthcare professionals, and the public, as well as advocates for scientific research and for the rights of people with breast cancer. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8: Benefiting the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust
Shoppers will enjoy a fun-filled evening benefiting the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust with cocktails,
hors d’oeuvres and surprise gifts from 5 p.m. –7 p.m. on Saturday at the show. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind gift boxes decorated in styles inspired by Wright’s designs. Each box will hold a delightful surprise, including trips, dinners, event tickets, jewelry or art. Tickets are $30 and include admission to the One of a Kind Show on December 8th. MARWEN’S HOLIDAY CARDS
Holiday cards created by Chicago area students will be available for purchase at Marwen’s booth at the One of a Kind Show and Sale. All proceeds of holiday card purchases will benefit Marwen’s free after-school programs. Marwen educates and inspires under-privileged youths by offering high quality visual art programs where students learn about making art and art history from professional teaching artists.
